Reiki flows through the energy channels of the body known as the chakras, nadis and meridians as well as in and around the aura. These channels have been described through other healing modalities such as acupuncture and other pressure point therapies. The hand placements have a correspondence to these energy channels. The practices and techniques of Reiki are passed from teacher to student and are part of a lineage. The ability to perform a Reiki treatment comes from receiving an attunement. Through the attunement process of Reiki the practitioners capacity to channel Universal energy or Ki is enhanced. This not only encourages healing to the individual system but allows the Universal energy to flow more freely through the body. The Ki energy can then be drawn by the recipient to support the process of natural healing. Reiki can do no harm. Reiki is an intelligent force that knows exactly where to go and how to respond to restrictions in the flow of Ki in the system. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to what is appropriate for them. Reiki cannot harm and is always helpful.
