Brisbane Maudsley Centre is a private therapy clinic for the treatment of adolescent Eating Disorders, Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. The centre was established in 2012 by Glenn Munt, accredited mental health Social Worker and Family Therapist, as a response to the growing concern expressed by parents of teenagers with eating disorders who have struggled to find a practitioner in Brisbane who can deliver this specific treatment program. Glenn was already an experienced Family Therapist when he completed the year long Maudsley training and supervision program in 2006. Since then he has established relationships with other informed health professionals and together they have provide advice, support and treatment interventions for young people and their families to achieve some excellent outcomes. The Maudsley Approach, is a family based treatment for anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. It is an outpatient treatment program designed to assist parents to help their child recover from an eating disorder. Parents are encouraged and supported to take charge of everthing to do with food: food preparation, shopping, meal planning and to support their teenager to return to a healthy weight. The Maudsley model is the most effective treatment for these disorders in children and adolescents. The research shows that the Maudsley method is effective for 68 ? 70 percent of cases. The Maudsley Approach has three phases of treatment: The Maudsley Program has three treatment phases.
