The complex houses historic photographs, memorabilia and multi-media interactive displays eloquently tell the inspirational stories of overcoming the problems of long distance travel in Outback Australia. A Boeing 747-200, donated by Qantas Airways Ltd, forms a spectacular part of the museum?s outdoor display. Guided tours are conducted daily for which bookings are essential. These tours provide visitors with an appreciation of the vision and achievements of the Qantas Founders, which is ?that Qantas would one day become one of the world?s greatest airlines.? Also now on offer is spectacular Wing Walk Tour for which closed in rubber soled footwear is essential. The very latest addition to the collection is the first ever Qantas jet passenger aircraft registered in Australia, the Boeing 707, faithfully restored over the past two and a half years by the dedicated team of volunteer engineers. The original Qantas maintenance hangar, preserved as part of the museum, is one of Australia?s earliest hangars. The hangar was the focus of the airline?s operations during the 20s.
