Due to our current western lifestyles, most families prepare their meals from processed semi prepared foods which are energy dense but nutrient poor (not enough vitamins and minerals). Too much of these "empty calories" eventually end up being stored as fat because we do not engage in enough physical exercise to burn it off. This in turn has serious consequences for our long-term health. There are some individuals who do their best to eat fresh fruits and vegetables daily.
