About Remedial Massage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In my remedial massage treatment I may use a range of therapeutic techniques to treat your specific injuries or complaints. These techniques may include: Deep Tissue Massage - the focus is on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Pressure can be varied to suit individual requirements and preferences. Trigger Point Therapy - finger, thumb or even elbow pressure is applied to the specific points that cause pain and restricted movement. You will be amazed to find that the cause of your pain may originate in a different part of the body from where you are feeling it. Muscle Energy Techniques - a gentle stretching technique that uses your own muscular efforts in association with mine. Myofascial Release - with this technique my focus is on the connective tissue of the body instead of the muscles. Tightness in this tissue can restrict your muscles ability to perform optimally not to mention grow and repair. Research is now showing that connective tissue can be a potent cause of pain. Cupping - I use suction cups to bring blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles, loosen adhesions, stimulate the nervous system and move fluid out of the tissues Dry Needling - I use a very fine needle to inactivate trigger points (contraction knots (Note: - I do not use this routinely but it can be a very useful treatment for problems that have not been responsive to other massage techniques. This is only used after a full explanation and consent from you) Positional Release - this is a very gently but highly effective treatment where I help to restore the normal flow of information from receptors in the muscles and joints back to the brain.
