I provide queer affirmative counselling, a unique approach that aims to address the negative impacts of discrimination, rights inequality, and social exclusion on human health and well-being. The goal within this counselling approach is to support self determined personal change (i.e. coming out), to empower individuals, couples and Queer Youth to implement holistic self-care practices and risk reduction strategies for improving health-in relationships, and to offer resources and pathways that enables social connection and empowers a strong sense of belongingness, pride, and membership to/within both queer and wider communities. Areas of experience I am highly experienced in areas such as grief/loss, trauma/post trauma related difficulties, CBT, DBT, narrative, solution focused therapy, self care, mindfulness, stress reduction, depression, anxiety, anger management, harm reduction/addiction, interpersonal struggles, psycho-education, internalized homophobia, self worth, shame, confidence and self esteem, disconnection from family of origin, communication, conflict resolution, intimacy issues, sexuality, questioning/transitioning gender identity, and coming out. I also coach and provide education to parents, schools, and allied health workers on how to create safe, inclusive, and affirming culture, physical space, and social engagement for/with kids coming out.
