Greater Groove Music is a unique 6 week program plus Gig aimed at developing both children's and adult's musical and playing skills as they play music with others in bands. Under the guidance of ARIA Award winning Professional Guitarist & Music Legend Mr Bob Spencer, bands will receive direction on two levels: the band ensemble AND individual levels. As Coach, he will cover not only those aspects of music theory that are relevant, using learnt songs as a vehicle, but also vitally important band concepts, such as how the band's "groove" is dependent on each player's understanding of how their part affects the whole. This learning is best achieved in a band setting from an experienced band player and is very different from playing solo. Greater Groove Music programs differ greatly from music lessons in that the individual and band/ensemble levels are carefully pulled together to create the band's persona and are a natural progression from individual tuition, not a replacement. Available programs include a Young Musicians Program & A Family Band Program and specialist Workshops periodically and during school holidays. Following a very successful and rewarding first year of operation in 2010, Greater Groove Music Programs have returned in earnest in 2011, commencing with an Info/Jam session on Wed May 11 at 4:30pm at MWT Institute in Hawthorn.
