The merlinmonster business model is not your usual profit-geared production. Unlike other photographers, Im not interested in making huge amounts of money from selling you your photographs after your wedding day or portraiture session. I would rather spend that time taking more photographs, meeting new people or spending time with my family and friends. Nicole (owner of merlinmonster ... both the business and the monster) is a University qualified Photojournalist and Multi-Media specialist. From rock-stars to religious figures to backyard weddings, I just love taking photos ! Every moment is special and inspiring in its own way. I didnt set out to be a pro photographer, but I had a strong interest in photography as a child. I was fascinated with my fathers Canon FTB. It looked so distinguished and the slides and photographs it produced were amazing. How I ever convinced my father to let me hold it, and then use it... is a miracle ! Technology was moving at such a fast pace when I was studying for my BA. A new world of digital photography was about to emerge onto the consumer market, so I took a sub-major in Multi-Media. By way of comparison, the Apple Mac I used back then was the size (and weight) of a 68cm tube TV. The Apple Macbook Pro I use today fits into my shoulder bag ! I still have the old Canon FTB, although it doesnt work particularly well and I much prefer the ease and speed of the Canon pro gear I now use, I look at the old FTB once in a while. To me it represents the timelessness of photography - the moment in time you capture when your shutter opens. The memories you create, the feelings of happiness, awe and wonder you inspire in others. Photography is my passion - with a little merlinmonster fun !
