Description: We are a small, dedicated team of hospitality professionals and we are very passionate about food, wine and customer service. With over 50 years' combined hospitality experience, we understand what customers expect and want and we do our utmost to deliver. Not only that, we always try to surprise and delight by doing the unexpected and going a little bit further. We bought and renovated The Avoca in 2010 to be able to fulfil our philosophy of melding great food with great wine and friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere where there are no strict dress codes, no cultural codes, no language barriers; just a place where we want people to feel that they can come to eat, drink, live and enjoy life with each other. At The Avoca we strive to make the most interesting, diverse and delicious food we can by using only the freshest ingredients available. We source as much produce locally as we can. We even grow many of our own foods, such as herbs and vegetables that are hard to find any other way. Our Specials Menu always offers unusual tastes to tempt such as hare, eel or goat and we love to use all the parts of an animal so you will regularly find livers, kidneys brains and so on as well. But we haven't forgotten that we are a country pub so you can still get a "Parmie" or Bangers if you want. A key focus for us is our support of the local vineyards and wineries. We are so dedicated to the wines of the Pyrenees that we will not stock a wine if its grapes were not grown here, even if the wine was locally made. This is our commitment to the terroir of the Pyrenees and its unique wines. We consider ourselves to be an extension of many of the wineries here whereby it is possible to experience and enjoy their wines in the normal environment where they are most likely to be consumed: with food. Similarly, we carry a range of local and regional beers that are deserving of greater public exposure and that we also feel are great beers to enjoy with food.
