Anybody at any time can suffer from depression or anxiety, meaninglessness, hopelessness, or struggle with grief and loss. Life is always in a constant state of change. It is hard to adapt. Anyone can find themselves in need of life coaching/counselling. Even the most capable and high achieving people can have mental health or emotional problems. They can be merely part of having to deal with life. I work with people who have diagnosed mental illnesses as well as those who simply have trouble juggling events and life circumstances they are confronted with. I believe that suffering lessens when people take regular space and time out to attend to it, especially with the assistance of a qualified, expert professional. Counselling lets individuals find different, more productive, more functional ways of looking at things. I make a point of accepting where people are at when they come to see me, to be non-judgmental and empowering. As a counsellor I have worked with all sorts of problems, issues and dilemmas. Nothing shocks me anymore. The main thing I have learnt is that people are experts in their own lives. My role is to facilitate clients to use their unique skills, talents and attributes to work with immediate situations or problems as well as to unearth the reasons that these problems arose in the first place. I work with clients to develop a therapeutic relationship that focuses on what matters most, the aspects of life that aren't working, the things that are currently hurtful or harmful. I work with with individuals to find ways that they may function better and feel better. To find the quality of life they deserve, the happiness that might lie just around the corner. My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, grief, relationship distress, addictions, pregnancy dilemmas, sexual abuse/ assault, work/life balance, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, self harm, career guidance, divorce, and goal setting.
