Education and Professional Experience

Dr Kannan is a clinical practitioner teaching Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, at the Townsville campus of James Cook Univerity. She serves as Staff Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Townsville Hospital, Queensland Health and provide consulting services from Park Haven Medical centre with operating privileges at Mater Hospital and Hyde Park Medical Centre.

Dr Kannan worked and trained at National Womens Hospital, Auckland City Hospital, Middlemore hospital (all in NZ) and King Edward Memorial Hospital at Perth, WA to become O&amp;G specialist. In 2008, Dr Kannan had the privilege of entering the subspecialty program in Urogynaecology as the first female doctor from North Queensland in a national selection process by RANZCOG. Since then, she continues to serve the NQ community from Townsville Hospital in the Urogynaecology department and from her private clinic at Park Haven Medical Centre.
