Psychologist, Jen Berthold, is now available to see clients at Stirling Medical Practice. With a background of over 7 years in the field of psychology preceeded by close to 15 years working as a primary school teacher and special educator across primary and high schools, Jen also has personal experience as a mother of three children attending local Adelaide Hills primary and high schools, and as a carer to family members with chronic and debilitating illness. As an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society, Jen is registered for Medicare and private health fund rebates for clients. Training in a diverse range of therapeutic modalities allows Jen to draw on the right approach for each individual client's needs, with a preference for Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. Jen works successfully with clients who find it difficult to verbalise their experiences including those with Selective Mutism, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Separation Anxiety, and Social Phobias.
During 2013 Jen's unique skill set has allowed her to visit schools across Adelaide, both public and private, to provide targeted individual advice and more general informative workshops for parents and teachers about meeting the mental health needs of children and adolescents with anxiety, learning and behavior problems. Jen's writing on these topics has been featured on national parenting website, WebChild. Diabetes SA have also engaged Jen's services to provide workshops and seminars on good mental health with chronic illness for their members, have published Jen's writing on this topic in their member magazine, and have commissioned Jen for further workshops and articles in the near future.
