Once you have set up your rifle and scope using this method, you can use it anywhere and anytime prior to hunting to verify that you will accurately place your shots. It removes the need for actually firing a shot which may scare game away before you even start hunting.
The author assumes that all firearm safety precautions are followed
That the rifle scope has been fitted to the rifle as per the scope manufacturer's instructions, with the correct-sized scope and mounts for the rifle
That you have a bolt action rifle
That you have an absolutely secure rest for the rifle, such as a target rest, sandbags, wheatbags, or any other base on which the rifle cannot move
That the initial scope alignment sighting after fitment is reasonably close to bore-sighting the target to allow enough adjustment. If not, you may run out of scope adjustment and may need to reset your scope mounts
That your rifle is in good condition and without muzzle damage
That you are using good quality commercial ammunition.
If you have correctly followed the method described, your rifle will be accurate enough to confidently place a shot where you aim
Flinching during a shot will ruin your accuracy, so make sure that you minimise this affliction by having a good recoil pad, a good gun rest where possible, and gently squeeze off your shots, not &quot;pull&quot; them.
I have successfully been using my method for years, and it WORKS!
If you are a target shooter, my method will work for you too, except that some fine adjustment will be necessary at the range, with minimal shots necessary
