Dr Ines Despot BDS Hons (USyd) Dr Edward Wells B Dent Sci (CSU) Dr John T Lewis BDS (USyd) Ryde Family Dentist was established in 2012, building upon the long heritage of the premises, which has hosted dental practices since the 1950s. Located in West Ryde, our name represents our commitment to looking after the wider Ryde area. Our current practice principal is Dr Ines Despot, who took up the reins from Dr John T Lewis in early 2012. Dr Lewis had run the surgery since 1977. He remains an important team member and still practices on Mondays and Fridays. Upon taking over, Dr Despot refurbished the practice and installed the latest dental technology. Our commitment to providing high quality and reasonably priced dental care to the community remains firm. We are a trusted dental provider for Bupa, Medibank and CBHS, but our services are not just for their clients; anyone is welcome to visit us. We have achieved full National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards accreditation, awarded by Quality Innovation Performance (QIP). We monitor and regularly review all aspects of our service delivery in order to make improvements, so you can rest assured of better patient-centred service and higher quality practise at Ryde Family Dentist. The accreditation scheme for dental practices was introduced at the start of 2013 and is voluntary at present; a mandatory programme will be developed in a few years' time. The NSQHS Standards were prepared by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, and specify world-class best practise measures for critical aspects of health care, such as infection control, medication safety and patient management, as well as general governance principles that can be applied by all health care providers.
