I am a registered child psychologist and counsellor who is passionate about helping children and adolescents feel better about themselves and what they can achieve. I believe that every young person is unique and deserves to feel safe, secure and happy. I have experience working with a range of issues that children and adolescents face such as; anxiety, bullying, self-esteem issues and learning how to manage their emotions. I have a particular interest and extensive experience providing support to families and children with developmental delay and developmental disability such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and chromosomal disorders. I have worked for several years in the disability sector and has been very fortunate to work alongside other professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists and Physiotherapists providing a multi-disciplinary and holistic approach to children and their families. I believe in the importance of supporting the whole family and have experience providing counselling to parents in relation to parenting issues, understanding and managing common childhood problems and adjusting to major life changes. My approach is relaxed but targeted and uses a variety of therapy approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Play Therapy. I have experience and skills counselling children and adolescents in: Enhancing Self-esteem Dealing with Bullying and Cyber Bullying Shyness, Anxiety and Phobia Sadness and Depression Building Resilience in children Developing Social Skills and Friendships Improving Sleep Problems Toilet Training Fussy or Picky Eating Self-harm Tantrums and Behavior issues Janece is able to provide support to families in: Managing the FIFO family Parenting Support Managing behavioral difficulties in childhood
