Cairns Offroad Training & Tours has been created as a means of teaching people how to safely get the best possible enjoyment out of their 4WD vehicles. Our aim is to teach you to become safe, confident and competent 4WDrivers so you can feel free to explore the many unique destinations our region has to offer. Our course is designed to benefit everyone, from the complete novice or new 4WD owner, to experienced drivers wanting to either brush up on their skills, learn new techniques or find out the true ability of both themselves and their vehicle in a safe environment. Modern 4WDs are extremely competent vehicles, to the extent that you as the driver are "the weakest link". We make learning entertaining and enjoyable with a fun filled day in beautiful surroundings at Cedar Park Resort, with morning tea and lunch provided. Proper training by an experienced certified instructor, will allow you to venture safely into areas you had previously only dreamed about. We take time to explain and demonstrate all of our techniques so they are fully understood. Any questions are actively encouraged and openly discussed. Courses are held over one full day on a natural terrain course at Cedar Park 15km west of Kuranda, (north-west of Cairns, Qld). Items covered in the 1 day course include: 4WD systems and vehicle set up. Dirt road driving high range. Correct braking techniques. Tracks low range. Mud and sand techniques. Water crossings. Steep inclines and descents. Stall start techniques. Basic vehicle recovery techniques. Course appraisal and discussion. All trainees are assessed and made sure they are aware and competent in the basic requirements of 4 wheel driving and we then cater to your specific needs. Our one day course also includes recovery demonstrations with winches and snatch straps. Instruction booklets are also provided. Trainees receive a Certificate of Achievement on completion of our course.
