It was established in 1979 as a bed and breakfastThe family have created an amazing two hectare garden which participates in the Open Garden Scheme, a feature is a cool climate garden rarely seen in Australia.In autumn the maple leaves flame red, yellow and orange, then scatter their leaves in a brilliant blanket interspersed by drifts of cyclamen and colchicum. In spring, there are hectares of daffodils, seas of fritillaria, colonies of martagon lilies, and a variety of rare plants from across the globe are a sea of colour. The most recent development is a Japanese Zen garden. The house is surrounded by 70 hectares of natural bush, in Nietta, 30 minutes drive inland from Ulverstone, and near the Leven Canyon. The Lodge offers country-house accommodation with old-style farm hospitality. All four bedrooms have ensuites and feature Tasmanian timbers. Kaydale Lodge is a good base for exploring the north and northwest region - Leven Canyon, Gunns Plains Caves, Cradle Mountain, Mount Roland, Sheffield ? then return for a cool evening stroll in a summer garden, or a cosy log fire on a winters night.
