For more information please visit our website: http://leatuition.wordpress.com/ The LEA (LE Academy) Tuition Program was founded by UWA students in the hopes of providing high school students with fundamental understandings of maths and English. The government funded 2010 Gonski review exposed harsh truths about the Australian education system: overall academic performance is declining, whilst there exists a significant gap between the highest and lowest performing students, with an especially damning correlation between performance and parentâ??s socioeconomic background. The LEA project is aimed at bridging this gap, and providing all students in Perth access to free after school tuition. The program commenced in February, semester 1 2013, and is initially expected to run until semester 4 2013. Locations will be rotated to cover more of the metropolitan Perth area. The LEA Tuition Program is entirely self funded and currently relies on the help of high achieving university students to volunteer their time.
