Stand Up Paddle Surfing or Standup Paddleboarding (SUP) is a relatively new sport but its roots trace back to the 60's and further still to pre-colonised Polynesia. The sport in its modern form was re-discovered in 2002 by a group of Hawaiian big wave riders. These pioneers of SUP were taken with the sport as a great way to gain extra fitness, increase leg strength and core stability while catching extra waves. The most interesting aspect of Stand Up Paddle Boarding is its adaptable nature.
